Chuma Anagbado is a Nigerian multidisciplinary visual artist and designer known for his line work and storytelling that bridges traditional Igbo artistic expression with modern technological innovation.

Ifebube

Ifebube showcases Chuma Anagbado’s recent experimental works on wood, reflecting his extensive journey to blend his line drawings, cultural heritage, and passion for technology. This exhibition marks the artist’s third solo exhibition.

This body of work created between 2022 and 2024 features a mix of Anagbado’s earlier hand-drawn pieces alongside his latest works, where he abandons conventional tools like pens and chisels for laser lights. The physical artworks have digital blockchain versions of the original palaeography drawings in black and white, creating a portal between the physical object and further information about the work when the QR code embedded in each piece is activated.

The exhibition’s title, Ifebube, is derived from the name of Anagbado’s mother, Esther Ifebube, who passed away on July 5, 1999. The term Ifebube alludes to the mysterious and profound appearance of the works and their capacity to exist across various realms of understanding and communication.
