Chuma Anagbado is a Nigerian multidisciplinary visual artist and designer-maker known for his line work and storytelling that bridges traditional Igbo artistic expression with modern technological innovation.
We created Body Canvas, a collaborative performance art between Chuma Anagbado (Artist), Moratiwa Molema (Performance) and Ade (Spoken Word). The performance which mapped what home means to us, combined our practices of Art, Poetry and Dance to create a single body of work we hope becomes the bedrock of more collaborations and impact!
This human generative art project that generates images showing different states of displacement of the art by the body is the outcome of Lost+Found, a hybrid artist residency that explores connection, collaboration and opportunities across boundaries and disciplines to catalyse new artistic practice virtually. The project brought together 16 artists working from 16 different locations across 3 continents who explored the theme: “The Long Way Home” under the guidance of a powerful artistic directors trio from Botswana, Uganda and India.
The project culminated in a series of stunning hybrid performance installations online and in person at Ugly Duck, London, with editions performed in Bangalore, India and Gaborone, Botswana (August 2023).
lost + found 2023 is a creative collaboration between the EAST collective, MeshWorks, Freehand Movement and Ugly Duck. The residency is hosted in collaboration with our funding partners British Council #SSAArts and Pro Helvetia, the Swiss Arts Council. EAST is supported by Miller-Zillmer Foundation.
