Chuma Anagbado is a Nigerian multidisciplinary visual artist and designer known for his line work and storytelling that bridges traditional Igbo artistic expression with modern technological innovation.
I curated the ‘Reimagining Hope Residency‘, Nigeria’s first-ever national art residency, conceived as a transformative launchpad for the country’s most promising visual, digital, and sculptural artists. My curatorial and mentorship slant sought to inspire the ‘monumental’ – not just in size, but in meaning and materiality. The artworks created during the residency are now part of Nigeria’s National Art Collection, installed in embassies and high commission around the world.
The six week experience was transformative and is reflected in the output of the 19 brilliant Artist’s, energised by a dream to contribute to nation building. Together, they’ve gone on to birth ‘Eko Militants‘; an Artist Collective reminiscent of the ‘Zaria Rebels’, with one vision of making an indelible mark in the contemporary art world.
A landmark initiative of the Nigerian Federal Ministry of Art, Culture, Tourism, and Creative Economy. The residency was implemented inn partnership with MADhouse by Tikera Africa.
